Gigino Falconi Bellezza creativa
The City of Teramo hosted the painter Gigino FalconiThe City of Teramo hosted painter Gigino Falconi in the premises of L'ARCA Laboratorio per le arti contemporanee, Largo S. Matteo, with his personal exhibition Bellezza creativa curated by Giuseppe Bacci and Lino Befacchia. The exhibition was divided into several time paths that outlined the Teramo artist's entire artistic career, which began in the early 1950s and included works that made him an interpreter of figurative painting.
The protagonists of the exhibition were the works created by the artist from Abruzzo, selected for their evocative power, for the fantastic realism that pervaded them and, in particular, for their meditative inspiration that helped recreate in the visitor that tension between corporeity and spirituality, between the human and the divine.
It was by virtue of the spirit that man was able to distance himself from immanent reality, to transcend it upwards and towards the intimate, but it was also by virtue of the corporeal dimension that man found himself in the immediate context of space and time, in history. Thus, with these premises, "Gigino Falconi Creative Beauty" was born, with particular attention paid to the setting up of the works present in the rooms of L'ARCA, loaded with suggestions capable of moving both scholars and visitors.
Inside the exhibition spaces were some forty works, some created especially for the occasion and others from the artistic production that made Falconi a protagonist of figurative painting in the 1990s through a peculiar artistic research: from the lights of forms to the wonder of the sacred. The exhibition hosted, therefore, a selection of purely figurative works of the artistic-introspective itinerary marked by the search for that magic realism that had the ability to fascinate and seduce the visitor.
The fruition, therefore, was not reduced to the emotional gaze of works captivated by the critics: it expanded into a gaze that went beyond, as in the exhibition context, Maestro Gigino Falconi took on the task of pointing out the universal and creative beauty, accompanying visitors along a path of intimate symbiosis between spirituality and art that delineated the entire artistic itinerary. Several poets have written about his refined and cultured painting, as well as critics such as: Carlo Bo, Mario Luzi, Enrico Crispolti, Carlo Chenis, Enzo Fabiani, Rossana Bossaglia, Sandro Parmiggiani and others. Maestro Gigino Falconi was honoured on his imminent birthday (21 March) with a concert by soprano Manuela Formichella and pianist Stefano Adriano Befacchia on 16 March at 16.30 in the Auditorium Conservatorio Braga in Teramo. After the concert, those present went to L'ARCA's headquarters for the inauguration of the exhibition. The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue, with essays by various authors, including Carlo Bo, Mario Luzi, Carlo Chenis, Stefano Peretti, Lino Befacchia and Giuseppe Bacci.
The setting up of the works and their custody were entrusted to the Sociocultural Cooperative, which manages the Teramo Museum Pole premises. The exhibition remained open until 11 April 2024, every day except Mondays, from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00. It remained open during the Easter holidays.
